Top 10 Websites That All Baby Boomers Should Know About and Probably Don’t
June 3, 2008 by FD

A baby boomer is described as someone who was born between 1946 through 1964 or somewhere in that area, depending on where you look and who you speak with.
The following are several websites that will help baby boomers in their search for friendships, where to stay when traveling, women’s issues, where to find a job and all things baby boomer.
Social Networking
Often called the “MySpace for the 50 something crowd,” www.eons.com is the place to meet and exchange photos and just gather and talk with people of the baby boomer crowd. It’s called social networking. Baby boomers find that they can share stories from their pass and meet people from all over the world who are just like them. Within the Eons website you will find groups for every interest and every crowd.
Blogging
Everyone is blogging these days, so why shouldn’t baby boomers? Two 50-something baby boomers began www.aginghipsters.com/so they could share their time spent as baby boomers growing up the 60s and 70s. There is music from this time period and a lot of original content about politics, careers, children and aging and countless other things about boomers and what they have in common. There’s also a bulletin board for other bloggers to post their views.
Search Engine
This is a search engine especially made for baby boomers and their special interests. It’s called www.cRANKy.com and is run by the same people who brought you Eons. The website received its name because the creator said many baby boomers get cranky when they can’t find something in the traditional search engines. This website is designed to use consumer research on Internet surfing habits and then they adjust the results to boost the placement of these sites so that users can see them higher on the list. It’s an easier to read format as well.
Nostalgia
This website focuses on the way things used to be. It’s called www.iRememberJFK.com and it is packed with stories about old cars, gadgets and the way things used to be when baby boomers were young. This site is great for collectors of 50s and 60s memorabilia.
News and Trends
One of the websites baby boomer should check out is called www.boomergirl.com/. BoomerGirl.com was created by Kansas City woman who wanted to share her humorous adventures she has with her children and aging parents. The site offers great destinations for girlfriend getaways, recipes and stories. You read the articles and then you can comment on them.
A great website for women to check out is www.boomerbabesrock.com/ which offers empowering and inspiring information for women. Run by Alison Bottke and her friends, all of whom are baby boomers, they want to teach and empower women to be stronger and know that they cannot do it all but that’s okay.
Another website to check out is www.boomerwomenspeak.com for women of the baby boomer age who want to share their stories and exchange recipes and information on just about anything related to women. There are heartfelt stories and humorous stories and you can add your own story to the bulletin board or look up anything you need through the countless resources available on this website.
Baby Boomer Jobs
If you’d like to join the workforce again try www.retiredbrains.com/ for up-to-the-minute information on where to find a part-time, full-time or temporary job for the baby boomer section of the working force.
Travel
When baby boomers want to travel they should check out this website, www.elderhostel.org/ for its extensive log of places to visit and hotels to stay in that cater to the baby boomer generation. You may search the world from this page and plan your trip for any time of year that suits your schedule.
Another great website for travel information is www.travelocity.com/aarp This site has special, baby boomer only, information and deals for your travel destinations, from hotel reservations to airline bookings.
